Come in, find a seat, and catch up with your fellow makers. If this is your first Guild meeting, we are glad you are here! Bring your curiosity, whether or not you have a contest entry.
Let us put names to faces. Tell us your name and, if you like, a little about what you are making or hoping to learn. All experience levels are welcome.
Pull up a chair for the story behind Buckleguy, told by Hugh Harriss. We have set aside about 30 minutes for his presentation and another 30 minutes for questions and conversation. Curious about hardware or how the business grew? Bring your questions!
Time to see what everyone has been making! Contestants will share their entries and the stories behind them: what sparked the idea, why they chose their hardware, and what they learned along the way. Come ready to admire the details and cheer each other on.
Original designs and projects made from patterns are welcome. Entries must be at least half leather, include hardware, and have not appeared in a previous Guild contest. A single well-chosen clasp or a whole collection of studs can make a piece your own. Bring your project and a few words about its story; a promising first attempt is welcome here. See the contest details for the full guidelines.
Hugh will take a closer look and choose first and second place in each of two categories: Original and Pattern. There are four prizes in all, with judging by Hugh and no member vote. While he makes his selections, enjoy a little more time to chat with the makers about their work.
Let us give every maker a round of applause, announce the winners, and hand out the prizes. A warm thank-you to Hugh and Buckleguy for making the contest possible!
We will finish the meeting and pack up at 8:30 PM. If you would like to keep chatting, join us for some informal social time afterward.
